| Bio: | I am the love product of two extremely wacky and crazy hippies: "what happened to you?" they ask, "you are so dark." Hehe...anyway, I was born in a hippie commune, I was brought up vegetarian, I nursed for several years, and my mother insisted that we eat only organically grown products. Weirdos...but they rubbed off on me. My mother is Spanish and Native American and concocts her own herbal remedies and medicines. My father is Irish and "Homer Simpson" pretty much sums him up.
My parents brought us up with much love and understanding. They gave me wings, but allowed me to teach myself how to fly. They nurtured us, guided us, but never forced any BS down our throats. They pretty much accepted anything I did or wanted with an open mind. This, I believe, made me who I am today.
I have a BA in Psychology, with an emphasis in Child Development. I was an art teacher in a summer camp, a nanny, and I also taught at a Learning Center (early childhood level). I soon left the teaching field and now work for the State Department of Human Services. It sometimes saddens me that I can't bestow knowledge and exert positive influence on children directly, but I am working for an agency that makes a difference in their lives. I find much personal satisfaction in just that.
I'm self-assured, confrontational, investigative, analytical, and I have no time for liars, jerks, mind games, or fake friends. I have mellowed out considerably since becoming a parent. I used to be the typical Type-A personality. But I love children, teaching, challenging people to think, and learning through adversity. I believe as humans we need to grow, change, and learn everyday of our lives. To stagnate is to die.
We welcomed a healthy baby boy on Saturday, February 18th, 2006 at 8:39 am. He weighed 6 pounds, 6 ounces and was 19.5 inches long. He is the most precious thing in the world. No one can even imagine how long I've waited for this. Kids have always meant the world to me. It is such an incredible gift to bring a happy, healthy, bouncing child into the world. And that my friends, is all that matters.
